Inauguration of the YDML Local UMKM Gallery

Merauke, February 15, 2025 – The YDML Local UMKM Gallery officially opened its doors today in Merauke, marking a significant milestone for the local economy. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Merauke Regency Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Service (Perindakop), GPI Papua Merauke Class, and the Papua Econusa Foundation Coordinator. Local UMKM actors and other guests also participated in the event.

The primary objective of the gallery is to foster the development of the UMKM sector in the Merauke region and to provide a platform for the exhibition and marketing of local products. During her address, Mrs. P. Hapsari, the head of UMKM at the Merauke Regency Perindakop Service, commended the efforts of the Dahetok Milah Lestari Foundation in promoting local economic growth and empowering UMKM actors.

“This gallery will serve as a strategic venue for MSMEs to showcase their products and enhance their competitiveness within the market,” stated Mrs. Hapsari.

Maryo Sainuddin, the Coordinator of the Econusa Papua Foundation, highlighted the necessity of collaboration among various stakeholders to stimulate the growth of MSMEs in Papua. “We aspire for the YDML Gallery to serve as a model for other regions in harnessing local potential while fostering partnerships with local government entities,” he remarked.

The inauguration concluded with a gallery tour, which featured an array of local products, ranging from handicrafts to traditional Papuan delicacies. The initiative aims to help MSMEs reach consumers more effectively and ultimately increase their revenue.

The establishment of the YDML Local MSME Gallery and the Dahetok Milah Lestari Foundation Office is anticipated to yield positive results for the local economy of Merauke Regency, particularly benefiting the surrounding villages.
