On March 14-15, 2025, a training session focused on layer chicken management took place in Okaba Village, located in the Okaba District of Merauke Regency. Organized by the GPI Papua Okaba Classis in partnership with the Dahetok Milah Lestari Foundation, the GPI Papua Economic Development Agency, and Yasanto Agricultural Polytechnic, this event aimed to enhance the economic capacity of the community and promote the participation of women in layer chicken farming for both commercial and personal consumption.
The training saw the participation of 10 individuals, comprising 8 women and 2 men, emphasizing a strong commitment to women’s empowerment. The program was designed to provide attendees with essential skills for effective layer chicken management, enabling them to boost family income and improve nutritional standards.
Rev. Marel Pattipelohy, representing the GPI Papua Okaba Classis, remarked on the importance of this initiative. He stated, “This training aligns with our goal to develop the economic capacity of our classes and congregation. Alongside our partners, we are excited to engage in this new venture, aimed at fostering sustainable business practices among beginners.”
